Jesus loved—with more sacrifice than any other person before or after.
Jesus died—because he spoke the truth.
Yes, His death was God's ultimate plan. But I think it's noteworthy that the reason the religious leaders of the time plotted to have Him killed was because He refused to compromise the truth.
Jesus did both—He loved deeply and with full compassion, and He spoke truth to defend His Father. This side of heaven, we won't get that balance just right every time (any time?), but my prayer is that we can look to Him for the strength to do the same thing. Love without truth is sappy. Truth without love is rigid. One doesn't help without the other.
"Rather, SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."
