four-year-old theology & tree hugging {#OneBeautifulThing}

They're in that stage where the great outdoors is calling their name.

We spent some time with my parents recently, who live on about five acres of mostly wooded land. For an entire day, these two little boys waded through "the deep woods" (we could see their flaming red shirts the whole time) looking for one adventure after another.

The didn't fight even once, and at the end of the day they were a dirty, exhausted, wonderful mess. I haven't seen them so happy in a long time.

Unfortunately, we don't have much of a backyard at our house, so outside play tends to stay in the front yard or in the cul-de-sac. They need adventure, these little boys of mine, and I'm trying hard to let them have it.

This particular day, they decided to tackle the neighbor's tree (shhh...don't tell). Big brother climbed most of the way up, looked down, and got scared. I could just barely hear their conversation from across the yard, but what I did hear made my mama heart smile big. My little guy looked up at his big brother and said, "It's ok brother...just trust God and take a step."

Amen. Just trust God and take a step. An entire life's worth of theology in seven small words.

It's my one beautiful thing this week friends. What's yours?
